WEBSTER TECHNIQUE

Dr. Matt is also Webster Certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis used to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/SI dysfunction. This technique corrects these imbalances to restore proper function to the muscles and ligaments in a mother's pelvis. In doing so, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated. Sacral subluxation may contribute to difficult labor for the mother (i.e., dystocia), caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, and baby mal-presentation. Correction of sacral subluxation may have a positive effect on all of these causes of dystocia.

Utilizing the Webster Technique, the main objective is to restore the communication within the nervous system and ensure the pelvic structures are in proper alignment and motion. When this happens, several ligaments holding the pelvic structures and uterus relax.

This response relaxes the torsion causing in-utero constraint and as a result provides the baby as much room as possible to grow, kick, move, and stretch in the womb. If the baby is unable to get into the ideal positioning for delivery, labor becomes more difficult and a natural birth becomes more challenging.

PRECONCEPTION & INFERTILITY

The nerves and blood vessels in the low back region of the spine regulate reproductive organs and supply nutrients to the fetus. If you feel as though you have exhausted all of your fertility options, chiropractic care may be the affordable and natural solution that you are searching for. When your spine is in alignment, your body will be free of nerve interference, promoting optimal function pre-conception and reducing chances of infertility. Studies also show that chronic stress levels in the body can make conception almost impossible for some individuals. One of the benefits of specific neurological based chiropractic care is that it decreases the physical and mental stress that is on the body helping to reduce one more barrier for proper conception.

Benefits prior to pregnancy include, but are not limited to:

  • Promotes regular menstrual cycles

  • May help optimize uterine function

  • Prepares body for healthy implantation

  • Ensures proper nerve supply to reproductive organs

  • Decreases physical and mental stress in the body

CHIROPRACTIC CARE DURING PREGNANCY

Benefits of chiropractic care while pregnant is important to reduce interference to the mother’s nervous system, which in turn helps to coordinate all systems and functions within her body. A few more examples of additional benefits while under care include:

  • Helps to create a state of balance in the pelvic muscles, ligaments, and bony structures, which prepares the pelvis for an easier pregnancy and birth

  • Relieves back, hip, neck, and joint pain

  • Helps control symptoms of nausea

  • Reduces torsion to the woman’s uterus by removing tension on the ligaments that support the uterus

  • Allows for a safer and easier birth for the mother, decreasing the potential for intervention such as induction or C-section

  • Detection and prevention of fetal malposition (breech and transverse babies)

  • Reduction in pelvic and back pain as mom’s body grows with her growing baby

  • Increases sleep and energy levels

  • Helps to reduce labor times by up to 30%

Many women are unaware that there are other options to help correct issues that they may be experiencing. Principled chiropractic care throughout the duration of pregnancy not only is beneficial for low back pain, but is important to structurally align the pelvis for both mom and baby to be in perfect position for an optimal birth. Our staff at FFC is trained and certified to offer comforting resources and services to pregnant women to ensure they receive a gentle and specific adjustment throughout their entire pregnancy.
